NESB Nondestructive Evalutation Sciences Branch
NDE Standards Library
To facilitate the development of the Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) Methods and Capabilities Handbook, NASA/TM-2020-220568, a set of composite specimens (standards) were procured that contain a range of controlled defects representing those typically found in aerospace composite structures. These standards were inspected by the handbook partners in a round-robin test procedure. These standards, as well as select raw data from the round-robin testing, will be available to the NDE community in a Standards Library.
An agreement to set up and maintain the specimen library is in place between NASA and the National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) - Wichita State University. NASA Langley Research Center is currently in a mandatory telework status due to COVID-19. As soon as employees return to the Center, the specimens will be sent to NIAR and available for check-out from the library. For more information contact Patricia Howell at p.a.howell@nasa.gov
