About Us

Vision and Mission
Our vision is to remain a world leading nondestructive evaluation sciences research laboratory for aerospace applications and a science and technology resource for NASA, Other Government Agencies, and United States industry.

The mission of the Nondestructive Evaluation Sciences Branch is to improve aerospace technology by pioneering advances in nondestructive measurement sciences, material state awareness, and structural health monitoring through fundamental scientific research and technology development; and successfully transferring NDE advancements to the scientific and aerospace communities.

Major Activities
NESB conducts experimental and computational research focused on the development of nondestructive evaluation (NDE) and structural vehicle health monitoring (SHM) methodologies for assuring the structural safety and reliability of aerospace vehicles/components. NESB researchers apply their extensive expertise to push forward the state-of-art in NDE, with a focus on developing advanced NDE solutions and emerging NDE technologies, physics-based and data based computational modeling and data analysis, and structural health monitoring implementation and interrogation systems. NESB has experience creating prototype and deployable inspection solutions to meet critical Agency needs.
